About

How it works

Our group sizes are small, with limited spaces, to keep the environment calm, friendly, and supportive.

Come along to a single workshop as a drop-in, or book a whole month and join us every week.

Workshops are drop-off, so you can enjoy a quiet hour while your child gets creative. Of course, you're welcome to stay if you prefer. If you do, we just ask that parents speak English with their child during the workshop, so the room stays fully English for everyone.

When children arrive, we start with 5–10 minutes of free play so everyone settles into the space. We then gather for circle time, icebreaker games, the theme of the session, and a chat about ideas.

After that, the main part of the workshop: designing, making, experimenting, and creating projects together, in English.

Bring your English to life

Workshops welcome children at every level, from A1+ all the way to native fluency.

They're particularly powerful for children learning English as a second or third language, and especially for those who've been studying for a while but still feel shy to speak.

Making something with your hands gives English a reason to come out, quietly at first, more confidently each week.

Our philosophy

Creative skills for an unpredictable future

We believe creative education helps children develop the skills they need for a rapidly changing future.

Many of their future careers don't yet exist. Creative thinking and strong interpersonal skills are becoming just as important as academic knowledge, and they grow best through hands-on making, collaboration, and open-ended challenges.

Everything we do is built around four core pillars.

01

Creativity

We encourage original thinking, experimentation, and imagination. Children are guided to develop their own ideas rather than simply copy instructions, helping them become confident creative thinkers.

02

Collaboration

Many of our activities involve teamwork, shared problem-solving, and learning from others. Children practice listening, contributing ideas, and working together toward a shared outcome.

03

Communication

All workshops are led in English within a natural and immersive environment. Through conversation, storytelling, presentations, and collaborative making, children strengthen both their language and communication skills.

04

Confidence

We aim to create a space where children feel safe to take creative risks, express themselves, and feel proud of their ideas. By valuing the process as much as the outcome, children develop resilience, independence, and self-belief.

About Lizzie

British Craft Club was founded by Lizzie Simpson, a British artist, illustrator, and creative workshop leader. Originally from the UK, she has been based in Sofia since 2015.

Lizzie has over 10 years of experience leading creative workshops for children, with a background in contemporary craft, illustration, and design. She has also worked as an illustrator and graphic designer within the Bulgarian publishing industry.

Rather than focusing on perfect results or copy-and-paste crafts, Lizzie creates workshops that encourage curiosity, experimentation, and independent thinking, where creativity and communication can grow naturally together.
